Ham Yard: A luxury London conference hotel with attitude

Category: Venues | London Venue |

Up until recently most people’s perception of a luxury London conference hotel was a traditional, possibly even stuffy, establishment. In the last few years some new 5 star hotels with meeting rooms in London have come on the scene to change this. Ham Yard is a case in point, shaking off these preconceptions to provide a contemporary, innovative meeting place to entertain and impress.

The hotel is located close to Piccadilly Circus, in the heart of Soho. Its developers have transformed a former three quarter acre brownfield site into what has been dubbed an ‘urban village’. Set in cobbled courtyard, which the hotel shares with some boutique style shops, Ham Yard is fun and quirky in its design. There is an array of unusual spaces, which is why this modern luxury London conference hotel has been well received by conference organisers, especially those looking for a cutting edge venue.

Conference Rooms / Event Spaces

Ham Yard Theatre – a conference auditorium for private use

Seriously cool, with electric blue wool walls and orange leather chairs, it can accommodate 190 for conference presentations, launches or screenings. In addition to the auditorium, there are two green rooms, both equipped with a mini bar, shower, sofa and desk.

Dive Bar for private hire

Adjacent to the Ham Yard Theatre is the ‘Dive Bar’, named after the three foot high neon lit lady diver hanging on one wall. The bar can be hired in combination with the theatre and works well for private screenings and press conferences.

Croc Bowling Alley for hire

The quirky spaces in this luxury London conference hotel continue with the Croc Bowling Alley, which has original 1950’s bowling lanes imported all the way from Texas! This private bowling alley lends itself to networking events and relaxing after a meeting.

Roof Terrace for private summer parties

Up on the top floor there is a roof garden complete with olive trees, outdoor heaters (we are talking UK summers) and views over the Soho rooftops. The Roof Terrace is a versatile space and will hold up to 100 people for a reception.

Luxury boardrooms for meetings

There are a number of small and mid-sized meeting rooms available. The Windmill can accommodate 120 people for a reception or 40 people theatre style, and if you’re looking for a smaller meeting room then the Sherwood Room seats up to 24 people boardroom style.

Events Lobby

Finally we ought to mention the Events Lobby, a good sized open space with high ceilings and artefacts. It can be used for breakout sessions or conference registrations and links the Dive Bar and the main meeting rooms.

Accommodation

Ham Yard offers 91 bedrooms which vary in shape and size. Every room has unique, colourful interior decor, so no two rooms are the same. There are also a number of suites and apartments available.

You will have guessed by now we are not talking about a traditional luxury London conference hotel, but if you need a contemporary hotel in London for a conference and something memorable, you may have found just the place in Ham Yard.
