As the US Embassy moves south of the river to Wandsworth next year, the empty modern Grade II listed shell in Grosvenor Square is getting a £1 billion makeover. It is being converted into a luxury Mayfair hotel with a large meeting room by architect Sir David Chipperfield.  Sir David has been taken on by the overseas developers Qatari Diar and together they intend to restore the high security site to a greener open space; more in keeping with the smart London Square. Housed in the former London HQ of Midland Bank, meeting rooms at The Ned are part of an ambitious hotel project. Converting this once derelict Lutyens-designed building is being masterminded by hospitality experts Soho House, in a joint venture with the Sydell Group. It is Soho House’s most ambitious conversion yet. The Ned, which takes its name from the architect‘s nick name, Sir Edwin ‘Ned’ Lutyens, is on a much larger scale than their other properties. Large conference venue – London County Hall Large conference venues in London do not have to mean big cavernous spaces, devoid of character and natural daylight. etc County Hall on the Southbank is testimony to that.  January 2017 will see the opening of a new large conference venue – London County Hall. Meeting rooms at The Vox Conference Centre will be one of the largest in the city and slap bang in the centre of the UK; with excellent motorway, rail and air access. Latin students will be familiar with “Vox Populi”, meaning “voice of the people”, where The Vox gets its name from.
