Café Royal, Regent Street
Category: Venues | London Venue |
Located on Regent Street, the reopening of the Café Royal Hotel is a fantastic addition to the London hotel scene and is located within walking distance of the city’s most famous shopping streets and tourist attractions to keep you occupied during the day and then of course the wonderful theatre district for the evenings entertainment.
The hotel has been sympathetically renovated so although it has modern quirky touches and the bedrooms are fairly minimalist, it still retains some of its original character. This therefore provides a wonderful balance between the old and the new and has ensured that the history of the building is still visible to the hotels guests today.
There are some 160 bedrooms and suites all of which come equipped with extensive Bang & Olufsen entertainment systems, a private safe and even a ‘Butlers Pantry’. In addition to the standard bedrooms and suites there are also six historic suites which are ideal for taking a sneak peek into some of the hotels glorious history. The bedrooms start at £295 per night.
The one area of the hotel which is most definitely not minimalist is ‘The Oscar Wilde Bar’ which has been wonderfully restored to the detailing it would have had back in 1865 when it was originally established. This includes ornate gold detailing, red velvet and huge mirrors, which all in all creates a truly luxurious atmosphere.
The main addition to the hotel since its renovation has been the Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre which is the ideal peaceful retreat after a busy day of exploring the city or being stuck in meetings.
Not only this, but the hotel also has six meeting rooms available to hire and these range in capacities from 14 to 230 people. All of the meeting spaces boast high levels of natural light and come with full AV support. The largest of the event spaces is the Pompadour Suite which is the hotel’s ballroom. It has beautiful ornate detailing and would make a wonderful backdrop to a dinner or drinks reception.
