Large conference venue – London County Hall

Large conference venues in London do not have to mean big cavernous spaces, devoid of character and natural daylight. etc County Hall on the Southbank is testimony to that.  January 2017 will see the opening of a new large conference venue – London County Hall. A new etc conference centre with large meeting rooms, which is housed in the former Greater London Council (GLC) offices.

The offices were last in use in 1986, before Margaret Thatcher abolished the GLC. The six story building, made of Portland stone, dates back to 1922, when is was opened by George V. The multi million pound investment project will see the transformation of lack lustre government offices into a luxury large conference centre in London. The original character is being retained. The Art Deco windows will be kept in tact by the design team, led by Jestico and Whiles, who are also restoring the original Parquet flooring.

Meeting rooms overlooking the Thames

The etc County Hall has 20 meeting rooms, on the fourth floor, making a total of 43,000 ft² of floor space.

The main spaces for a large conference will be the  Thames and County Suites. These interconnecting large meeting rooms overlook the River Thames, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

The biggest meeting room in this iconic building has a capacity of 400.

The Thames and County meeting rooms combined can cater for up to 900 delegates.
